Physical Characteristics

Annual growing to 0.2m. . The flowers are hermaphrodite (have both male and female organs) and are pollinated by Insects. The plant is self-fertile. We rate it 1/5 for edibility and 0/5 for medicinal use.

The plant prefers light (sandy) and medium (loamy) soils and requires well-drained soil. The plant prefers acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils. It cannot grow in the shade. It requires dry or moist soil.

We have very little information on this species and do not know if it will succeed outdoors in Britain, though we feel it should be possible to grow it either as a hardy or a half-hardy annual. The following notes are based on the general needs of the genus.
Prefers a rather dry poor soil in full sun[1, 200].

Seed - sow spring in situ[200].
