Habitat:	Scrub and savannah slopes at altitudes of 1700 - 2700 metres[145]. Dry hillsides and rocks[146].

	Order: Lamiales. Renamed to Lamiaceae -- Mint family

Physical Characteristics

A decidious shrub growing to 1.5m. . It is in flower from July to September, and the seeds ripen from August to October. The flowers are hermaphrodite (have both male and female organs). We rate it 1/5 for edibility and 0/5 for medicinal use.

The plant prefers light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils. The plant prefers acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It requires moist soil.

Edible Uses

Leaves.

One report says that the plant is edible[145], but gives no details as to which part of the plant is eaten[K].
