Order: Lamiales. Renamed to Lamiaceae -- Mint family

Physical Characteristics

Perennial growing to 0.2m. . It is in flower from July to September, and the seeds ripen from September to October. The flowers are hermaphrodite (have both male and female organs). We rate it 0/5 for edibility and 2/5 for medicinal use.

The plant prefers light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils. The plant prefers acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It requires moist soil.

Disclaimer

The entire plant is used in Tibetan medicine, it is said to have a sweet taste and a cooling potency[241]. Anti-inflammatory and febrifuge, it dries up pus and joins cut nerves/vessels[241]. It is used in the treatment of inflammation of the lungs, pus in the lungs, inflammations of wounds/sores and cut nerves/blood vessels[241].
